I will continue with things which my friends are arguing on. I will discuss various aspects of Fighting Wars, Indian History, Indian Freedom Struggle and Partition.
First of all I would say that without the spirit, there is no fight and for fighting among each other with the reference of History then India is no exception in the world where communities used to fight. Those were basically called Culture Wars in US, UK, France, India, etc. India had several cultures in each part which was southern India, under the rule of the Chalukyas, Cholas, Pallavas, and Pandyas and North India had kingdoms of Magadha, Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Guptas and Mughals [with intrusion of middle east]. Even till 18th century whole India was not united as one country so there is no question of finding Indian unity which got affected by the wars of the history. They were always separated.
It was known that India has two parts North, Central and East as one powerful part and other as Southern part. The unity came into existence when Mughal empire came in power and tried to acquire larger part of Indian Continent and done a lot to modernize the Indian Culture. It was only then that people came to know that “Hindustan” is the new name of their country and became worried on the acquisition of India by the British because British were more greedy to get the capture the whole Indian Continent. Even they tried to catch the North-East but failed to acquire the area because the Tribals kicked them out.
After almost all the India was under British rule and they started to modernize India and its military, its kingdoms, its language, its education, etc. Then leaders in India started to think about a single big free India.
India got divided because there was no unity. This is not true. The seeds of division were sown in 1905 when Bengal was divided but in 1911 it was again reunited by the united effort of the Hindus and Muslims but they played their game and made linguistic differentiations to make different areas and sown the seed of better development Lollipop[which was the actual Lollipop] which made Muslims minority think of their separate state.
I was disappointed when somebody says that Bhagat Singh was died but he was a martyr of the Freedom War.. His death awakened people of India which is why Gandhi ji did not stop his hanging.
Kashmir is a political mistake which is why it is suffering with the problems happening whose solution will only be political.
Now about the State conflicts in India vis. Maharashtra doesn't want North Indians or Biharis, North East people are treated badly, the only thing that can be said is that everything is just the lackluster performance of the implementation of law and order. Nothing more than that.
About the thing of religious conflicts in India between Hindus, Muslims and Christians, it is mostly the result of Political Conspiracies of Bad Leaders who are elected by us ourselves.
Now you will say that whatever be the case why are we fighting… now it will not be fair to say that whatever will happen to you, your family, your religion, your rights, your country but you will not fight. This is our fundamental right to freely follow the trends of Culture, Religion and Language and whosoever will stop us has to face fight in the court.
There has to be a fight and without fight progress is not possible but taking the fight in the right way as in Business, in Industries, Money, Markets, Product Development, Innovation will definitely lead us to a brighter future.
I buy your point that Unity in Diversity is now a days a dream but it only and only represents a status of India where different religion, caste, tribe, language, geography resides. It does not say either Indian People are United with each other or the Diversities are mingled into each other.
India is a Diversified Country because there exist differences [ie different people with their different priorities] and the differences exist in the manner in which their nature wants to and still prospering accommodating with the existing differences.
The nature of Fighting which seems to divide us is actually the same nature of fight that united us. We fight therefore we are united.
We saw a fight for our rights in British rule even we saw a fight in the Congress [as Garam and Naram Dal], saw fighting spirit of Bhagat Singh, saw fighting spirit of Netaji, saw fight of Gandhiji without arms.
Even after independence we saw fighting spirit of Dr. Kalam [first Missile Scientist], saw fighting spirit of Rabindranath Tagore, saw fighting spirit of Amartya Sen, JC Bose, and many more examples of fighting to get some place in their field or in the world.
We are an intellectual capital, we talk about excellence and fight to achieve that and feel unity in competitiveness to achieve the best.
Even we have places which are well below poverty than the poorest of the Africans but we are still fighting to live with honour.
We saw a fight in Politics too which lead to wrong decisions by some governments elected by us only. But this is our fight to eradicate the problems of environment, poverty, unemployment and the latest Naxalism.
